CLUB NEWS, President's Evening of magic and humour, Friday 28 August 2026
Our President Roy Polley put on a special evening of magic, fun and humour - and a glass of prosecco when arriving!
Such was the popularity of the event, the evening had been over-subscribed by our members. To those lucky enough to attend, magician Russ Styler provided a non-stop stream of tricks and bafflement at each table ending with a stand-up act. Volunteers from the audience were asked to be his assistants for tricks such as sorting invisible cards, having a hand guillotined (not really) and having an upside down glass of water positioned over their head and magically not getting wet - it was all great fun
Prior to the Russ’s end of evening performance, our lucky audience had been treated to a top class supper prepared by our catering stars with lots of empty plates demonstrating happy diners. At the end of the evening, Roy thanked everyone who had contributed including the catering team, the bar helpers and all those who had decorated the Club house with wall art, dressed the tables with flowers and top hats, and the substantial work of arranging the tables and chairs to seat an such an exceptional amount of attendees.
